I find it amusing when online marketers, music labels and artists tell me that they don’t use Myspace much if at all anymore. Seems that for a number of people, Myspace doesn’t have that same appeal that it had 2 to 3 years ago.
I find it amusing because Myspace is still the 6th most popular website in the world. Myspace still serves up millions of pages and videos per day. Myspace still has millions of people and friends who use the service everyday. Major music labels are still using Myspace to announce, market and sell music. Marketers are still using Myspace for sales. So What Gives? Are You using Myspace to effectively market your product or service?
The Social Network scene is ever growing but where and what other social network can you visit and find hundreds of thousands of searchable unique niche markets? Millions of like minded people? What other Social Network gives you the ability to slice and dice member data and demographics like Myspace?
Myspace still generates huge numbers of daily traffic to our media platforms. Now granted we’re not befriending as many new Friends as we once were, but Myspace provides backlinks, and announces our platform changes. We still average around 100 new friend requests per week on our various pages. As we accept our new friends we leave a personalized welcome comment on their page.
We really utilize commenting on our friends pages. We leave comments which include pictures, videos and links to our blogs, websites, video networks etc. We also were careful in initially targeting like minded people for our various Myspace pages. We targeted local people to our physical locations.
Is it too late to start with Myspace? Absolutely Not – The faster you start, the more positive results that you will attain!
Some people use Myspace as their main website and that’s OK as long as you are using your own domain name which is forwarded to your Myspace page. You should be building traffic to your own domain name not to the Myspace domain! This way you can control your traffic and future links.
